SPIER SECRET FESTIVAL MEDIA LAUNCH JUNE 2012

Food and wine media were invited to join a secret gathering for the launch of the Secret Festival. Guests assembled in a parkade and were shuttled to a secret venue, where they were blindfolded.

The event was a blind tasting and food and wine flavour illustration. Food tasters to illustrate the flavour profile of each wine were developed by Cara Brink with Spier Cellar Master, Frans Smit.

A loud musical performance and tissue paper dividers completed the sensory experience.

POP CULTURE MAZE

As one if the installations at Toffie Pop, we created a pop culture maze with five jumping castles cramped into one room and a hidden ice cream machine in the back. Festival-goers were treated to a free ice cream as a reward for figuring out the maze.

5 GUM BLIND TASTING AT TOFFIE POP 2012

We arranged a 3-day blind tasting event for Wrigley 5 Gum at the Toffie Pop festival. Festival-goers were blindfolded and had to guess the flavours of four tasters, all linked to the existing 5 Gum flavours, including horseradish sherbet, watermelon marshmallows and spearmint crisps.

LATE NIGHT SHOPPING EVENTS IN BUENOS AIRES

The President's concept store was launched in Buenos Aires in December 2011. Several successful and well-attended late night shopping events have been held, where shoppers were treated to typical South Africa fair, including Peet Pienaar's famous curry.

COMME DES GARCONS PERFUME LAUNCH

We managed the South African launch of Comme des Garcon's Chayalan perfume. As guests arrived, they received a clue that sent them on a treasure hunt to a local neighbourhood café, where they could try the new perfume testers. Freshly squeezed orange juice vodka cocktails were served in fresh oranges to enhace the citrus notes in the new perfume.

TOFFIE POP CULTURE FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE

The President are the founders and owners of the Toffie Pop Culture Conference and Festival. The event has been held once in Buenos Aires and three times in Cape Town. The last Toffie Pop in March 2012 was attended by 650 conference goers and over 1800 market visitors per day over three days. Over 50 local and international speakers did presentations at the conference, in addition to over 20 workshops, over 50 market vendors, eight international art and design exhibitions and an after party.

TOFFIE FOOD FESTIVAL PIÑATA SMASHING

A highlight at the Toffie Food festival and conference in 2011 was the smashing of the Lindt-filled piñata exhibition. We approached 20 top Cape Town artists and designers to each design a piñata as part of a 3-day exhibition that would be smashed by festival goers as the grande finale to the event.

B-LIVE CONCERT FOR BACARDI

We developed the concept for Bacardi and produced a collaboration concert with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and well-known rapper Tumi Molekane, as part of the international Bacardi B-Live events series.

Our production team managed everything from bookings and invitations to all technical elements of the show, like setting up over 100 microphones for the orchestra and coordinating Japanese artist and designer, Daito Manabe's laser show with the performance.

CHOP POP-UP RESTAURANT

CHOP pop-up restaurant ran for two months and seated 12 guests at a time. We served a 5-course menu: potato crisps with biltong and quail eggs with craft beer; sheep's brain ravioli with burnt sage butter; Angus beef steak with wood-smoked potatoes, laminated paper salad and homemade chilli sauce; glow-in-the-dark vodka jellies; flaming dulce de leche pancake stacks and witblits with coffee and condensed milk. The decor included paper-covered furniture and a live-streamed projection of the Niagara falls.

INTERNATIONAL POLAR FOUNDATION PRESENTATION

We produced the event for the presentation of the International Polar Foundation by TSH Prince of Monaco in December 2011.

MK BRUCE LEE MAGAZINE LAUNCH

In August 2008 we launched the MK BRUCE LEE magazine that we published for the TV music channel MK. We took the magazine back to it's roots – the Cape Town suburb of Bellville – where Afrikaans rock was born. We rented a house and staged a massive house party with karaoke in the lounge, DJ's in the kitchen, a live band in the dining room, a pool party and a professional size skateboard ramp in the back garden.

2 – 21

In March 2009, we developed and produced the play, 2 – 21, for the KKNK. The brief was to conseptualise a production that would encourage young festival goers to attend a theatre production, so we created a collaboration with well-know musicians Francois van Coke and Peach van Pletzen, professional skateboarders and theatre actress Anneke Weidemann.

POSTER EXHIBITIONS IN BUENOS AIRES

We have curated two poster exhibitions in Buenos Aires in 2009 and 2010. Each event's opening night was attended by over 1000 people.
